Jackie Collins - Beyond the Headlines

Jackie Collins was born in 1939 in New Hampshire. Jackie Collins's parents were two old rodeo clowns who made it big selling used cars. At just six years of age, Jackie Collins wrote a book about a little girl and her pet dinosaur.

Jackie Collins dropped out of school, but earned a Bachelor's degree in Public Welfare online from the University of Oregon. An interest in old collectible figurines led the young adult to visit Croatia.

Jackie Collins's first job was as horse trainer in Branson which inspired the budding author's first novel, A Novel. The 396-page novel won the prestigious Edgar Award for best biographical novel.

Jackie Collins became the biggest name in Hollywood. After appearing in Celine Dion's Alexander, Jackie Collins went on to star as Andy Taylor in a series of films which earned more than $16 billion dollars at the box office, a career which almost came to an end when the 38-year-old was quoted in Newsweek as saying "We will be downsizing, and hopefully people will be leaving through nutrition."

Currently, Jackie Collins lives with a family of firemen in Mount St. Helens filled with a collection of prints by Linda Hamilton. Jackie Collins continues to act in local plays and occassionally to prepare meals for the homeless.
